SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 14, 2017) — San Antonio was added to the list of 12 metro areas where Google Fiber is currently being offered. In District 1, residents in the West End will be among the first able to purchase the service. City Councilman Roberto Treviño provided the following statement:

“As San Antonio endeavors to be a 21st century city, equitable, yet innovative efforts like these help close the digital divide by providing more residents with reliable internet access in underserved communities in District 1 like the West End. Furthermore, the availability of Google Fiber will dovetail nicely with other community development initiatives such as free Wi-Fi in several city parks.

I applaud the partnership between the West End community, Google Fiber and the City, which has resulted in the preservation of land for a new soccer field and a newly constructed fence doubling as an art component.”
